Built for the Face

Most soap bars are formulated for body use and used on the face anyway. A facial bar is different. The superfat is higher, which means more conditioning, unsaponified oil left in the bar after cure. The oils are chosen for skin compatibility over lather performance. The liquid base is aloe juice rather than water. The result is a bar that cleans the face without the tight, dry feeling that follows a body bar used on facial skin.

The olive oil in this formula is cold-infused with chamomile flowers before the batch is made. Chamomile has a long track record of soothing irritated skin - the infusion means the benefit is worked into the base oil itself, not added as a botanical sprinkled on top for appearance. Shea butter adds richness and conditioning. Avocado oil is mild and skin-compatible, commonly used in gentle formulations for reactive skin. Castor oil boosts lather density without adding harshness.

The liquid base is 100% aloe juice. Not water with aloe added. Every part of the liquid phase is aloe, which means the bar's soothing and conditioning properties come from the formula itself, not from what's left on your skin after rinsing.

Tussah silk fibers are added at trace amounts with the lye water. They create a noticeably smooth, silky quality to the bar and lather that's especially noticeable on facial skin.

This bar is completely unscented. No essential oils, no masking agents. If your skin reacts to fragrance, synthetic or natural, this is the bar that removes that variable entirely.

What's In It

Chamomile-Infused Olive Oil - Olive oil cold-infused with chamomile flowers. Chamomile is well-known for its soothing properties on reactive and irritated skin. The infusion integrates those benefits into the base oil rather than adding them superficially.

Shea Butter - Rich, emollient, and conditioning. Adds a nourishing quality to the lather without heaviness.

Babassu Oil - A palm-family oil that produces excellent, stable lather with a conditioning quality. See important note on coconut sensitivity below.

Avocado Oil - High in oleic acid and fatty acids. Mild, skin-compatible, and commonly used in formulas for sensitive or reactive skin.

Castor Oil - Boosts lather density and adds a silky, conditioning slip to the rinse.

Aloe Juice (Aloe Barbadensis) - The full liquid base. 100% aloe vera juice instead of water. Naturally soothing and conditioning, especially on dry or reactive facial skin.

Tussah Silk - Creates a noticeably smooth, silky quality to the bar and the lather. Particularly noticeable on facial skin.

Important Note on Babassu Oil and Coconut Sensitivity

This bar contains babassu oil. Babassu is a palm-family oil, not a coconut-derived ingredient, but it has a similar fatty acid profile to coconut oil. If you have a confirmed coconut allergy or tree nut sensitivity, please patch test before using this bar. Apply a small amount of lather to the inside of your wrist and wait 24 hours before using on your face.

If you need a bar with no palm-family oils at all, the Tallow & Goat Milk Unscented Bar does not contain babassu or other palm-family oils, and is also completely fragrance-free.

How to Use

Wet the bar and your fingertips. Work up a lather in your hands and apply gently to the face. Rinse thoroughly with warm water. Pat dry. Store the bar on a draining soap dish between uses and let it dry completely. Because this bar is higher in conditioning oils, keeping it dry between uses is especially important for bar longevity.
