What's Actually in The Naked Bar (And What Isn't)
Share
Most of our "sensitive skin" conversations start with coconut. Some of them don't stop there. If you've ruled out coconut and you're still reacting to something, essential oils are usually the next suspect, and that's a harder ingredient to shop around because almost every "gentle" or "natural" soap still has some kind of scent blend in it. The Naked Bar exists for that specific, narrower problem.
What's Actually In It
Olive oil, kokum butter, shea butter, rice bran oil, castor oil, and aloe juice in place of plain water. That's the entire ingredient list. No essential oils, no fragrance oils, no clay, no charcoal, no botanical swirl, no babassu, no tallow, no colorant of any kind. What you're holding is what those five oils saponified into, nothing added for how it looks or smells.
What That Means for How It Feels
I'll be straight with you: this bar doesn't lather like our scented bars do. Olive oil makes up 40% of the recipe, which puts it closer to a castile soap than to anything with babassu or tallow in it. The lather is soft and creamy instead of dense and bubbly. That's not a flaw, it's what happens when you take out the two ingredients that build big lather in our other bars. Kokum butter and rice bran oil add some conditioning back in that a plain castile bar usually skips, so it's gentler than a straight olive oil soap without adding anything that could react.
Who This Is Actually For
If you're in the middle of patch-testing your way through a reaction and trying to isolate what's causing it, this bar gives you almost nothing to rule out. No essential oil to react to, no babassu, no coconut, no dye. That's genuinely useful information when you're trying to narrow down a cause instead of just switching products and hoping.
It's also just useful if you want a plain bar and don't want to squint at an ingredient list to confirm it's actually plain. A lot of "unscented" soap on the market still has essential oils in it. This one doesn't.
What It's Not For
If you love a scented bar and just want something coconut-free, this probably isn't your first stop. Our coconut-free collection has five other bars with real scent profiles, all still coconut-free. The Naked Bar is for the narrower case where scent itself is the problem, not just coconut.
Full ingredient breakdown is on the Naked Bar product page. If you're not sure whether this or a scented CF bar is the right starting point, the coconut-free collection page has all of them side by side.
