2 oz Tin | Rich Hand Balm for Hardworking Hands | Handmade in Florida

A rich, slow-melting balm for hands that work all day. Smooth it over your hands and around your nails before you dig in, and again when you come back inside. Cleanup goes faster, and your hands feel looked after instead of stripped.

Choose unscented, or a quiet Cedarwood & Rosemary. Made without coconut oil. Gardeners, mechanics, woodworkers, potters, painters, nurses, and anyone who washes their hands a lot tend to reach for it.

Choose Your Scent

Unscented. No essential oils at all. You'll notice only a faint, soft scent from the beeswax and butters.

Cedarwood & Rosemary. Warm cedarwood with a green sprig of rosemary. Woodsy, herbal, and quiet. Made with about 1% essential oil.

What's In It

Ingredients: Cera Alba (Beeswax), Garcinia Indica (Kokum) Seed Butter, Limnanthes Alba (Meadowfoam) Seed Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Lanolin, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Tocopherol. Cedarwood & Rosemary also contains Cedrus Atlantica (Cedarwood Atlas) Bark Oil and Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil.

Beeswax and kokum butter give the balm its firm, protective-feeling body. Shea butter and meadowfoam seed oil add softness. Castor oil adds a little cushion and shine. Lanolin helps it stay put on hands that get washed a lot. Avocado oil keeps it rich without feeling heavy. Vitamin E (tocopherol) helps keep the oils fresh.

Essential oils only, no fragrance oils, and none at all in the unscented version. Made without coconut oil. Contains lanolin, which comes from sheep's wool, so skip it if you have a wool allergy. Contains beeswax, so it's vegetarian, not vegan. Contains shea butter, a tree nut derivative, so skip it if you have a tree nut allergy.

How to Use It

Scoop a small amount with a fingertip and warm it between your palms. Work it over your hands, around your nails, and into your cuticles. Use it before you head outside, after you wash up, and before bed. A little goes a long way.

Questions We Actually Get Asked

How is this different from a hand cream?

A hand cream is mostly water and absorbs fast. This is a water-free balm, thicker and longer-lasting, made for hands that are in dirt, water, and sun all day.

How long does one tin last?

Most people get 2 to 3 months with regular use.

Does it have a scent?

It comes two ways. Unscented has no essential oils, just a faint, soft scent from the beeswax and butters. Cedarwood & Rosemary is lightly scented with about 1% essential oil.

Does it contain lanolin?

Yes, a small amount. Lanolin comes from sheep's wool and helps the balm stay on through hand washing. If you have a wool allergy, skip this one. Every ingredient is listed above.

Is this just for gardening?

No. It works for anyone with hardworking hands: woodworkers, potters, painters, mechanics, and anyone who washes their hands a lot.

Will it make my hands greasy?

It's a rich balm, so use a small amount and warm it first. Most of it sinks in within a few minutes. Use it before bed if you want the full effect.

From Jen

"After years in the corporate world, I found peace in my garden, but my hands were paying the price. Every product I tried either didn't work or had ingredients I couldn't pronounce. So I made what I needed. Every batch is made by hand in small quantities."

Pairs with the Hardworking Hand Care Gift Set: this balm for before and after, and the Hardworking Hand Scrub for cleanup in between.
