    Cellulose + Coconut Fiber | S-Shaped | Dual-Layer | Fully Compostable

Most kitchen sponges are plastic, which means they shed microplastic every time you squeeze them and take centuries to break down after you toss them. This one's cellulose and coconut fiber, so it composts instead.

    How It's Built

The S-shape fits your hand better than a flat rectangle. Two layers split the work: soft cellulose absorbs and wipes, coconut fiber scrubs the stuck-on stuff, on glass, nonstick, stainless, or ceramic. Cellulose also dries fast, which matters more than people think, since a sponge that stays damp is what grows bacteria and starts to smell.

    Care

Rinse after use, wring it out, and let it dry somewhere with airflow. When it's worn out, compost the cellulose layer at home and dispose of the coconut scrubber separately.

    Questions We Actually Get Asked

Does this sponge smell like regular sponges after a few uses?

Less so. The porous cellulose dries faster than a synthetic sponge, which slows the bacterial growth that causes odor. It still needs to air dry between uses like any sponge.

Is it safe on nonstick cookware?

Yes. Both layers are gentle enough for nonstick and glass, while the coconut fiber side still handles stainless steel and ceramic.

    How do I compost it?

Separate the two layers when the sponge is worn out. The white cellulose side goes in a home compost bin. The coconut fiber scrubber can be composted or disposed of separately.

Works well alongside our Coconut-Free Solid Dish Soap Bar for a kitchen sink that's fully plastic-free.
