1 oz Tin ($10.99). A solid bar in a reusable metal tin with a wider surface, so it's easy to warm between your palms. Good for home, the nightstand, and larger areas like arms and legs. Zero plastic.

1/2 oz Twist-Up Stick ($7.99). The same formula in a slim twist-up tube made for purses, pockets, desks, and gym bags. Glide it straight onto skin so nothing ends up on your palms. It holds half as much as the tin, so it's priced per tube rather than per ounce. The tube is plastic. We started in cardboard, but it didn't hold up in bags and pockets, so we switched to a twist-up tube. If you want zero plastic, choose the tin.

Why a Solid Lotion Bar

Liquid lotion is mostly water. A lotion bar has none, so what's in the tin is what goes on your skin. A 1 oz tin lasts about 4 to 6 weeks of daily use and a 1/2 oz stick about 2 to 3 weeks. Neither one leaks in your bag, and neither counts toward liquid limits in a carry-on.

Warm it between your palms for a few seconds and it glides on. It works best on slightly damp skin, like right after you wash your hands. Use it on hands, cuticles, elbows, knees, and heels.

Ingredients: Cera Alba (Beeswax), Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter, Isopropyl Myristate, Cucurbita Pepo (Pumpkin) Seed Oil, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Macadamia Integrifolia (Macadamia) Seed Oil, and essential oils (scented versions only).

Beeswax gives the bar its structure. Cocoa butter and mango butter add a rich, soft feel. Pumpkin seed oil and macadamia nut oil absorb quickly. Isopropyl myristate helps it glide. Essential oils only, no fragrance oils.

Contains macadamia nut oil, so skip it if you have a tree nut allergy. Contains beeswax, so it's vegetarian, not vegan. Made without coconut oil.

Choose Your Scent

Lavender. Classic and herbaceous, not powdery. A good one for the nightstand.

Bergamot & Sweet Orange. Bright and fresh with a soft floral edge. A good one for the desk.

Cedarwood & Pine. Cedarwood, pine, fir, and a little earthy patchouli. Woodsy and grounded.

Vanilla & Tangerine. Warm and sweet, made with benzoin resin, tangerine peel oil, and Peru balsam. Cozy with a bright citrus top.

Questions

Are the tin and the stick the same formula? Yes. The only differences are the container and the size: the tin holds 1 oz and the stick holds 1/2 oz. The tin costs less per ounce, and the stick is the one built to carry.

Why does the bar feel hard at first? It's water-free, so it needs a little warmth. Rub it between clean hands for a few seconds.

What if it softens in the heat? Keep it out of direct sun and hot cars. If it softens, a few minutes in the fridge firms it back up.
