My Weekend Ritual for a Fresh Start (Natural Edition)
Share
Sunday used to be my "dread the week ahead" day. You know that feeling, the weekend is almost over, Monday is lurking around the corner, and you haven't done any of the things you said you'd do on Friday afternoon when you were full of optimistic weekend energy.
Laundry? Still in the basket. Meal prep? LOL, ordered pizza again. That book you were going to read? Still on the nightstand, judging you.
But here's what changed everything: I stopped treating Sunday like a day to frantically catch up on life, and started treating it like a ritual. A reset. A gentle bridge between the chaos of the week that was and the possibility of the week ahead.
It's not about productivity. It's not about checking off a massive to-do list. It's about creating a space, both physically and mentally, that feels calm, intentional, and ready.
And honestly? It's become my favorite day of the week.
What is my Weekend Ritual
A weekend ritual doesn't have to be complicated or time-consuming. Mine takes about an hour, sometimes less. It's just a series of small, intentional actions that make me feel grounded and prepared without feeling overwhelmed.
Think of it as less "spring cleaning marathon" and more "gentle Sunday morning stretch for your home and mind."
Here's what my Sunday reset actually looks like:
Morning: Slow Start (30 minutes)
I don't set an alarm on Sundays. Revolutionary, I know. I wake up naturally, make coffee (the good stuff, not the weekday rushed version), and sit with it. No phone scrolling. No email checking. Just me, my coffee, and maybe a book or the view out the window.
This isn't "wasted time." This is the part that reminds me I'm a human being, not a productivity machine. It sets the tone for everything else.
Mid-Morning: Light Reset (15 minutes)
I do a quick version of my daily cleaning reset (you know, the one from this post), but I add a few extras:
- Change the hand towels (fresh towels = instant upgrade)
- Open all the windows for 10 minutes, even if it's cold (the air exchange is worth it)
- Refill the Foaming Hand Soap at every sink if needed
The goal isn't perfection. It's just making the space feel fresh and intentional.
Late Morning: Self-Care Moment (15 minutes)
This is the part that used to feel "selfish" until I realized that taking 15 minutes for myself on Sunday means I'm not a complete disaster by Wednesday.
I keep it simple:
- Wash my face with intention (not just the frantic weekday splash-and-go)
- Use our Hand Care Line - the hand scrub and balm combo that keep my perpetually abused hands feeling human again
- Sometimes a face mask if I'm feeling fancy (clay mask = instant reset)
- Moisturize everything, slowly, like I actually care about my skin barrier
This isn't about looking perfect. It's about feeling cared for. By me. For me.
Afternoon: Simple Prep (20 minutes)
I'm not a meal prep person. I've tried. It doesn't work for my brain. But I do a few small things that make weekday mornings less chaotic:
- Wash and chop veggies for the week
- Make a big batch of something simple (quinoa, rice, hard-boiled eggs)
- Set out my Monday morning coffee setup
- Lay out my Monday outfit (this sounds extra, but past-me is always grateful)
Again, not trying to be perfect. Just trying to make Monday morning slightly less of a disaster.
Evening: Close the Loop (10 minutes)
As the sun sets (or as I realize I've spent three hours reading and need to wrap up), I do a final little ritual:
- Jot down three things from the weekend I'm grateful for
- Write down one intention for the week ahead (not a goal, just an intention, there's a difference)
- Light a candle, make tea, settle in
The week starts Monday, but the mindset starts Sunday night.
Practical Tip
Pick one piece of this ritual and try it next Sunday. Just one.
Maybe it's the slow morning coffee. Maybe it's the hand care moment. Maybe it's just lighting a candle and taking ten deep breaths.
You don't have to adopt my entire routine. You don't have to do it perfectly. You just have to find one thing that makes Sunday feel less like "weekend's ending, panic mode" and more like "I'm ready for whatever comes next."
Start there. Build from there. Make it yours.
The Products in My Sunday Ritual
I mentioned a few favorites that have become staples in my weekend reset:
Hand Care Line: The hand scrub is gentle but effective (sugar-based, naturally scented), and the hand cream actually absorbs instead of sitting on top of your skin like a grease slick. After a week of dishes, typing, and general life, my hands need this.
Foaming Hand Soap Tablets: Having fresh soap at every sink is such a small thing, but it makes the whole house feel more put-together. I refill on Sundays so I'm not scrambling mid-week.
All of these are made with ingredients I trust, smell amazing without being overwhelming, and make the ritual feel special instead of like just another chore.
Why This Matters
Here's the truth: Sunday used to make me anxious. It felt like the timer running out on my "free time," and I'd spend it either frantically trying to do everything or doing nothing and then feeling guilty about it.
Now? Sunday is my anchor. It's the day I come back to myself, reset my space, and prepare for the week without panic or pressure.
The ritual isn't about being productive. It's about being intentional. It's about creating a moment of calm in a world that's constantly asking for more, faster, louder.
And honestly? That hour on Sunday mornings, the slow coffee, the hand care, the fresh soap and clean towels, that hour makes the entire week feel more manageable.
Your Turn
What would your weekend ritual look like? What's one thing you could do next Sunday to make the week ahead feel a little more doable?
Try it. See how it feels. Adjust as needed. There's no right way to do this, just your way.
And if you want to share what you tried, I'm all ears. I love hearing how people create these moments of calm in their own lives.
Here's to Sundays that feel like a reset instead of a deadline.
